Emergency Fund

June 11th, 2008 at 08:58 pm

I just started Dave's Ramsey 7 Baby Steps last month. I'm almost finished with step 1.

1. $1,000 to start an Emergency Fund

2 Pay off all debt using the Debt Snowball

3. Three to six months of expenses in savings
(b) Start saving for a house.

4 Invest 15 percent of household income into Roth IRAs and pre-tax retirement

5 College funding for children

6 Pay off home early

7 Build wealth and give!
Invest in mutual funds and real estate

Step 1 is the biggest, because you started from 0. Step 2 is easier by definition, because you can build on the success from step 1. Congrats and welcome to our group!
